Conception Statistics published in 2006 show that Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council has the highest teenage pregnancy rate in Britain with a conception rate of 18.4 per 1,000 girls aged under 16. This is followed by the London boroughs of Southwark, Haringey and Lambeth, with 16.5, 16.4 and 16.1 per 1,000 respectively. The areas with the lowest rates are Buckinghamshire (2.8 per 1,000), Windsor and Maidenhead (3 per 1,000), Shropshire (3.1 per 1,000) and Kingston upon Thames (3.5 per 1,000).
