Students & Interns

Leire Sanchez and Pauline Guedes. Leire came from Spain in 2006 to work as a translator with Linguassist a translation company based in Llangollen in Wales. She was given the project of translating Contraception Education's resources into Spanish and localising the game. Throughout her placement she was able to visit us in Glossop and also made an outstanding Spanish Voiceover for Anticoncepcion El Juego de Ordenador under the supervision of Paul Smith and Ian Roberts Directors of Reactive Audio at their studio in Manchester. Pauline was on a placement via the International Student Placement Office and for part of it worked on the French translation of Contraception: the Computer Game (Contraception le jeu Interactif) and also recorded the French Voiceover during 2006. She spent some of her placement working with Information Plus in Orkney, as they converted the source code for the French Version. Pauline then undertook further studies in France to market the computer game in France, and produced a short promotional video with two fellow students.

We also hosted Thierry Oyhenart from November 2006 - June 2007. During his ISPO placement, because of his knowledge of Spanish, Thierry was able to represent Contraception Education at BETT 2007, at an exhibition in Mexico, helped with the recording of the voiceover for Contraception the Computer Game and made an introduction for us to several organisations in France.

Ilaivato Rakatobe was placed with us via ISPO from June 2007-October 2007 and during his placement represented Contraception Education on a Trade Mission to Spain, and various networking events nearer home. Remi Gandeboeuf and Meline Jallat joined us via the Salford twinning with Clermont Ferrand from April 2008 - July 2008 and together organised Protect and Respect 2008, Sophia Te Velde our first ever Dutch student came to us via ISPO from February until July 2009 to look at international work in Zambia, and again from France Geoffrey Sauvage joined us from April to July 2009 to focus on the marketing of our 2009 Summer Conference, and to engage in other marketing activities. In February 2010 we were joined by Alison Terry for a 12 week placement on her applied community and youth works study degree. In February 2011 we were joined by Harriet Dobson who also joined Contraception Education on a work placement from the University of Manchester. Harriet was studying Youth and Community work and shadowed Barbara, helping out with training sessions in different youth placements. Harriet chose to work with Contraception Education CIC as sex and sexual health education is a passion of hers.
